interview with an apostate- morpheus
by _Morpheus inwhen i saw simons thread and the "interview" series of threads that came from it i really enjoyed reading the life stories of those that shared.
a bump for newer people seems like a good idea and i figured i would add mine as well.
again, thanks to simon for the concept of a guided interview thread and the template.. tell us a little about yourself and your family.. hmmm... easy question, hard answer.

Thanks _Morpheus, always nice to get to know each other's backstories better. I like to hear from those who have pretty much seen/done it all (i.e. Bethel, elder, etc.) and have done their research and have intelligent reasons for leaving. It goes against JW's narrative that those who leave are "weak" and only do so for selfish reasons. I agree that some overt activism can just make us look nuts or play into the persecution complex, but I did see one on YouTube that was so well done I had to love it. Even if nobody remembered all the specifics of what was said, they'll know that all is not right in the org.

Reaction to baptism figures
by neat blue dog intalking about tomorrow's wt study, that mentions over a quarter of a million baptized every year, a jw asked how many that is a day.
i got out my calculator and answered over 778 a day.
of course they were amazed at the growth, but immediatly i googled another statistic and read it aloud:.

And even out of the ones that are adults, I haven't seen one, not one, in recent years that was a true convert reached door to door. All of them were exposed to JWs as children and they became inactive and/or have JW family members.

Talking about tomorrow's WT study, that mentions over a quarter of a million baptized every year, a JW asked how many that is a day. I got out my calculator and answered over 778 a day. Of course they were amazed at the growth, but immediatly I googled another statistic and read it aloud:
'And 360,000 are born every day, and 151,600 people die every day.'
Nobody said anything, but the sister who asked in the first place was a little annoyed. Instead of addressing it, she asked:
'Well, how many are baptized in a week?'
I said 'over 5,000'.
She said 'Its good to think about it that way, by the week'.

Common phrases which are disappearing during my lifetime
by TerryWalstrom inmany common phrases i've used all my life have been made obsolete by technology advancements.
"roll up the window" (car windows don't roll up any longer with a hand crank.).
"hold your horses.

I agree with _Morpheus, the tech behind the phrases may be outdated but the sayings remain.
Another one I hear all the time is "tape" in regards to recording audio and/or video, even though most everybody uses flash memory, not tape.

Don't be too Christian, you'll raise red flags
by neat blue dog infor the past few years all my comments and talks have been a purely christian message.
i tiptoe around wt dogma and focus on the basics of love, life compassion, etc.
and i deliberately do not use jw terminology whenever i can.

CO's still have opportunity to personalize their talks a little bit, (and GB members can a lot), but from what I've seen this freedom is usually only used to advance their own personal theories, philosophies, pet peeves, self righteous interpretations, etc. Nothing really beneficial.

May the lice from a billion decaying monkey turds fly into the underpants of the Governing body.
Wow that's a very vivid thought 😅
That my boy is probably why they changed the tms to this lame presentation format. No room to ad lib
Well they still do have one normal 6 minute talk a month where you get more creative freedom, but they only let a few brothers in my hall do that. We'll see how long I stay on the list, my days may be numbered 🤐
